Hi, I'm Matt.
Personal training based in Matamata, working with men and women across the Waikato.
I train people who want to actually change something — not people looking for a 12-week miracle. Most clients come to me because they've tried things on their own and it hasn't quite stuck, or because they want to do it properly the first time.
How I work
No fixed templates. No selling supplements. No 6am bootcamps designed to break you. The work changes depending on who you are, what you want, and what your body is currently doing.
The thing I care most about is technique — getting it right, then getting it strong. If you can squat, hinge, push, pull and brace properly, you can train for the rest of your life without breaking. That's the goal.
Who I tend to work with
- Men and women who want to get stronger and have never trained with weights properly before.
- People in their 50s, 60s and beyond — staying independent and capable.
- Beginners who've been intimidated by gyms for years.
- Returning lifters and athletes — coming back after injury, surgery, or a long break.
- Small groups of friends, couples and workmates training together.
What I don't do
- Sell you a 90-day program when what you need is a 3-year habit.
- Push diets that aren't sustainable for someone with a job and a family.
- Pretend that everyone needs the same thing.
Qualifications
Qualifications will be added shortly — full REPs (NZ Register of Exercise Professionals) registration details, plus specialist certifications, are available on request in the meantime.
